The Partners of Pricewaterhouse Coopers are pleased to announce the recent promotion of Barry Pillans to Director in the Assurance practice of the Gibraltar firm, Pricewaterhouse Coopers Limited. Barry, an MA (Hons) graduate from Aberdeen University joined the local firm in September 2004 having previously worked with Pricewaterhouse Coopers in the Middle East and Eastern Europe. Prior to joining Pricewaterhouse Coopers, Barry trained in Scotland and qualified as a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland.

Barry has brought with him a breadth of audit experience in the financial services sector and in particular Banking and Capital Markets in which he specialised in during his time in the Middle East. He also has a thorough working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards and has been instrumental in training local staff and advising external parties in this area. He now takes on the challenge of heading the firm’s dynamic and growing assurance practice, maintaining its focus on consistent audit quality.

Barry also has experience in Due Diligence and Corporate Finance and has additional responsibility for learning and education for the firm. He is currently a member of the training committee of the Gibraltar Society of Chartered and Certified Accountancy Bodies.
