A big “thank you” to Airport Manager John Gonçalves who made it all possible.

KPMG Gibraltar commences operations

KPMG has opened a new office in Gibraltar after a break of four years. The global audit and advisory firm ceased to have direct representation in Gibraltar in 2004, but the attractions of the jurisdiction as a vibrant and growing financial services centre, and a key gateway to Europe, have proved too hard to resist.
Neil Duggan, KPMG Gibraltar’s Audit Director commenting on the new set up said, “Our re-establishment in Gibraltar has been welcomed by Government, our international clients, and indeed our fellow professionals and we are extremely grateful for all of the advice and support we have received throughout the process”.
The new Gibraltar firm will form a part of an informal network of KPMG offices in the leading offshore jurisdictions, all of whom work closely together to deliver the specialised professional services essential to clients operating in the international financial services environment.
In the initial stages of operation, KPMG Gibraltar will be supported by KPMG’s Isle of Man member firm. David McGarry, Managing Director of KPMG Isle of Man and also Chairman of the network of KPMG offshore firms stated, “Whilst the support of KPMG Isle of Man will be essential in the early stages of the operation of our Gibraltar office, we recognise that strong local presence and the development of key relationships will be critical to our longer term success, and we are placing a high priority on the recruitment of highly qualified and experienced Gibraltar-based professionals for our new team”.

Gibraltar Rugby Club

Gibraltar Rugby Club would like to thank Andy Hunter and John Hunter of the Lord Nelson for their sponsorship of the junior rugby team.
This is the second season the juniors have played in the Andalucía league and there have been marked improvements, with a great win against Los Jabalíes beating them convincingly 54-0. With the help from the Lord Nelson, Gibraltar Rugby Club were able to provide transport for all away games and cover most of the costs of hiring a pitch in nearby Pueblo Nuevo. Special mention should also be given to the other junior sponsors; Stan James and Taylor Woodrow, both of whom have financially helped the junior team this year.
The future looks bright for the Gibraltar junior team! For more information about Gibraltar Rugby go to www.gibraltarrugby.com or visit the Lord Nelson during a televised rugby match and no doubt a member of the club will be there!!
